Your privacy is important to us. PetNudge stores all your pet data locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or share any personal information without your consent.
Information We Collect
PetNudge is designed with privacy in mind. Here's what you should know:
- Pet Data: All information about your pets (names, health records, vaccinations, medications, appointments) is stored locally on your device.
- Photos: Pet photos you add are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
- Usage Data: We do not collect analytics or usage data about how you use the app.
Data Storage
PetNudge uses Apple's SwiftData framework to store most of your pet information securely on your device. This means:
- Local Data: Health records, vaccinations, medications, and appointments are stored only on your device.
- We cannot access, read, or recover your local data.
- If you delete the app, all local data will be permanently deleted.
Pet ID Profiles (NFC)
When you create a Pet ID Tag (NFC tag), a public profile is stored in Apple's CloudKit:
- What is stored: Pet name, species, breed, photo, owner name, and contact phone number.
- What is NOT stored: Health records, vaccinations, medications, or appointments.
- Purpose: Allows anyone who scans your pet's tag to see the profile and contact you.
- Control: You can delete the profile at any time from the app.
- Lost Mode: When enabled, finders see an urgent "Lost Pet" alert with optional reward information.
This data is stored on Apple's iCloud servers and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
In-App Purchases
Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information. All transactions are handled securely by Apple.
AI Pet Assistant
PetNudge includes an AI-powered pet assistant feature. Here's how it handles your data:
- Conversations: Your chat messages are sent to Google's Gemini AI service to generate responses. We do not store conversation history on our servers.
- Pet Information: Basic pet information (name, species, breed, age) may be included in AI requests to provide personalized responses.
- No Medical Records: Your pet's detailed health records, vaccinations, and medications are NOT sent to the AI service.
- Disclaimer: The AI provides general information only and is NOT a substitute for professional veterinary advice. We are not veterinarians.
Third-Party Services
PetNudge uses the following third-party services:
- Apple CloudKit: For storing public Pet ID profiles (when you create NFC tags). See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini AI: For the AI Pet Assistant feature. Conversations are processed by Google's servers. See Google's AI Terms.
- Apple Maps: For finding veterinary clinics near you (only when you use the clinic search feature).
- StoreKit: For processing in-app purchases.
- Push Notifications: For medication and appointment reminders (only if you enable notifications).
Notifications
If you enable notifications, PetNudge will send local notifications for:
- Medication reminders
- Vaccination due dates
- Upcoming vet appointments
These notifications are generated locally on your device and do not require sending your data to any server.
Security
PetNudge supports biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) to protect your pet's data. When enabled:
- The app requires authentication each time it is opened.
- Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and is never accessible to our app.
Children's Privacy
PetNudge does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed to track pet health information, not personal user data.
Your Rights (GDPR / RGPD)
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate data.
- Right to Erasure: You can request deletion of your personal data. For local data, simply delete the app. For NFC Pet ID profiles stored in CloudKit, delete them from within the app.
- Right to Data Portability: You can request your data in a structured, commonly used format. PetNudge allows you to export health reports as PDF from within the app.
- Right to Object: You can object to the processing of your personal data at any time.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can request that we limit how we use your data.

Data Protection Authority: If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
Data Retention
Since PetNudge stores data locally on your device, data retention is entirely in your control. Deleting the app permanently removes all local data. NFC Pet ID profiles stored in CloudKit can be deleted at any time from within the app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
